Painting

“At the end of 1986, Di Lorenzo began to purify his painting of intricate structures, introducing symbolic elements to make way for forms with precise features and a new luminosity. In other words, we observe the reorganisation, in formal terms if I may say so, of the painting structure, which, while allowing the delicate structure of restless signs and drips to emerge from the ground, alludes to the power of the symbol  […] The ‘mountain’ is the symbol of stability […] it is thus proposed as the centre of the world and at the same time as the vertical ascent of humanity towards the divine: that is, towards the light as the symbol of truth. The ‘cave’ is the secret that the mountain hides; it is the concave of the mountain […] it represents the world as a place of unknowing, suffering and judgment […]”.
