“Synthetic forms, almost silhouettes of jars […] and other objects emerge from the dark background: a kind of archaeological relict, as old as the rocks that rise from the water, enclosed in an oval both mysterious and fascinating. The indefinite landscapes, also often circled, under a burning sky, are lighted up by an imperial red that acts as a complement to the intense blue that we find in the ceramics as a primordial sign, graphic and immediate, especially in relation to black. This sign is identified as a kind of pre-writing, an ancestral residue that reveals what is beyond consciousness and allows us to explore the psychic, oneiric, inner dimension. The revealing sign, the gesture, then becomes writing, becoming the medium for the full and rational expression of thoughts and ideas, Urbild, to use a Gadamerian term, on which to base the practice of art in its constant, as well as controversial, relationship with reality.”
